Send a Letter to The Editor
The US House passed legislation on February 7, 2008 that will help curb textbook
costs nationally – with the support of every
Washington
Congressperson who voted!
But
where’s the media storm celebrating our victory? That’s right: there hasn’t been
any! Start it today by sending a letter to the editor to Washington’s major
newspapers!
The bill:
- Requires
publishers to disclose the prices
and revision histories of textbooks to faculty.
- Requires
publishers to sell
textbooks and supplemental materials unbundled.
- Requires
schools to provide students with
their list of textbooks, so students have time to shop for the lowest prices and
prepare for the full expense.
